What’s New
With version 1.1 of the RedEye App we introduced two major new features: an online database of remote control codes, and activity templates. Our goal was to make the setup process faster and more intuitive. We put together a video to help illustrate.
Code Database: Now you can add new devices quickly by using our online remote code database right from within the RedEye app. In other words, you do not need to hunt through a catalog for the right code number, or run into another room to connect your remote up to a PC. Instead, simply select the manufacturer and device type, and then RedEye will display possible codes for you to test before downloading.
Currently the code database contains just a first pass of the most popular brands and devices. We will be expanding the database over the next few weeks, followed by regular updates for new devices thereafter.
Activity Templates: Activities are one of the most powerful aspects of the RedEye system, so we wanted to make it easy to create them. Now when you create an activity, the RedEye app will put together a button layout based upon the activity type and the devices you are using in the activity. For example, to create a Watch TV activity you might select your TV, your sound system, and a cable or satellite receiver. The RedEye will create a “Watch TV”-specific button arrangement and assign the volume commands to your stereo, the channel commands to your cable box, and so forth. When it is done, you can jump right in and watch television, or you can tweak the layout to add macro buttons for your favorite channels, change shortcut gestures, and so forth.
